SAS 70 defines the professional standards used by independent auditors for assessing the operational effectiveness of a service organization. A Type II report not only includes the service organization's description of controls, but also includes detailed testing of the service organization's controls. The audit examined Auxis' infrastructure, corporate governance, information security management, and physical and environmental security management policies and practices.

SAS 70 took on increased importance with the introduction of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in 2002, which created a heightened awareness of controls over financial reporting.
